Being a teenager, he regularly ventured in to the city, hanging out at Studio 54, which was frequented through the fashion crowd including the iconic Vogue editor Diana Vreeland and writers such as Truman Capote. He began studying design at New York's prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, but dropped out before graduation to develop his very own collection.
